Growing Quickly

Evan has grown so much the past week or two. We've had several "firsts" happen...

  • He went through an entire bath without crying.

  • He outgrew the newborn size in his diapers and clothes - this made me a little sad! At his last Dr.'s appointment he was 9lbs 5 oz.

  • He had actual tears when he was crying.

  • He went to church for his 40 day blessing and was a good little boy. He was very excited to meet all of his family and friends there.

  • His first picture with Yiayia and Papou!

  • He started cooing while looking at the animals on his play gym and the fish on his swing.

  • The most important one - he started smiling!! He mostly will do it while laying on the changing table, but I'm sure we'll start seeing it more often in the upcoming weeks.

...Now, if we could only get him to sleep in his crib!!

Why Didn't I Think of That?

This week we opened our first Baby Einstein DVD - Baby Mozart. Evan stared at the screen in awe. I couldn't believe how well it kept his attention! The 30 minute DVD consisted of basic toys (train set, penguin slide, stuffed animals, etc.) and other bright, visually stimulating objects moving with Mozart music in the background. What a simple idea and it led me to think..why didn't I think of something like that? This has happened to me many times being in the field of education - people are selling products that are so basic and charging A LOT of money for them. So maybe one day it will be my turn and I'll finally make my millions...

Superbowl Sunday

On Sunday the Chicago Bears played in the Superbowl. At the beginning of the season, who would have predicted they would be playing in the big game? Brad stayed in town to watch with us, and Alexis and Curtis also came over. Unfortunately, The Bears decided not to show up and play for the championship title, and they lost against the Colts. But, at least we have some cute pictures of Evan rooting for his hometown team!

Visitors Galore

We had a very busy weekend with lots of visitors coming to see Evan. With the extremely cold weather and basically being stuck in the house for several days, it was nice to have a change in routine and to see so many family members. Friday night Rick's brother, Brad, and sister, Lisa, and her fiancee, Mike, came to stay with us for the weekend. Then on Saturday my grandma and other family members came to see Evan for the first time. Everyone was very excited to see him and hold him!

Evan is now one month old! He has definately grown a lot the past month. When he is awake, he looks around a lot and is taking everything in. His favorite activity now is the swing. He loves staring at the fish mobile on it, then usually falls asleep quickly. I'll post some pictures of that soon.
