First Steps

Evan has been taking a few steps here and there for the past few weeks, but last Sunday he really took off! I have tried to get some good pictures but with no success so far. I did get a great video (it's only a few seconds long), but forgot that you can't take videos vertically with the digital camera.

So here it is, just turn your head sideways.... =)

Evan's 1st Birthday (the 2nd time)

Evan was lucky enough to have 2 birthday parties. We celebrated with Rick's family 2 weeks after he turned 1. Evan is such a lucky boy!

Evan still didn't like his cake, but at least he's almost giving us a smile

Cutest Baby

Please do my friend Kristen a favor...

Her son, Carter, has his picture in a Cutest Baby Contest. He is adorable and needs more votes to win. Please visit www.photowow.com and go to entrant #49429 and give him a 10 rating. I think voting ends this Tuesday.

Speaking of cute pictures, he's some newer ones of Evan:

Happy 1st Birthday!

I cannot believe that Evan is already a year old. It's amazing how much he's changed in his first year of life. We celebrated with a small party at our house on Evan's birthday. For once, Evan was not really happy to be the center of attention. He was very overwhelmed with everything, and was pretty quiet the whole night.

Why are you making me wear this hat?

More presents?!

Evan's very own laptop!

Yay! Evan loves clapping!

Time for cake...

Evan's 1st taste of birthday cake. He took 1 small bite and refused to eat any more!

Along with the first birthday came more shots. He got 3 today at his 1 year appointment - MMR, chicken pox and influenza. He cried briefly, but obviously they didn't effect him too much since this video was taken an hour or two after his appointment...

Christmas in Chicago

So happy to be with Yiayia and Papou...
and Nouna and Nouno!

The day after Christmas Santa finally made his arrival at our house, and he brought lots of fun stuff for Evan to add to all the other things he received from family members.

WHEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Although our first Christmas with Evan was exciting, we were glad to have a chance to relax and spend some time as a family after it was all over.

Christmas in Effingham - Part II

Christmas Eve we were able to spend some time with some of Rick's friends and their kids. Evan met Allie, who was born in October, for the first time. She is adorable! He also saw his friend Benjamin, whose picture I last posted in February. Click here to see it. Wow, have they changed!

Ahh, young love!

Christmas morning was exciting, even though Evan didn't really understand what was going on. We spent the morning opening gifts, then Evan took a nice nap before our long trip home...

It's a Gloworm! Didn't know they still made them, but Evan loves it! While he's playing, he'll press it to start a song, play with another toy while the song is playing, then press it again for a new song when it stops.

Another Blog to Visit

My friend, Carrie, and her husband, Steve, are expecting their first baby in May. They just found out it's a boy, so of course we're very excited! You can follow Carrie and Steve's adventures into parenthood in her new blog at http://www.carrieg78.blogspot.com/.

Christmas in Effingham - Part I

The week of Christmas was extremely busy for us. We spent about 5 days in Effingham visiting with Rick's family and friends. Evan had a great time but was exhausted by the time we made it back home on Christmas Day.
